Boeing 777 Flights: Airlines, Routes, and Travel Info

The Boeing 777, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love a Very Large Airplane
I have very specific feelings about airplanes, the same way I have very specific feelings about kitchen counters, cardigans, and men who use the word "literally" incorrectly, and here is one of them: the Boeing 777 is the plane I actually trust. They call it the Triple Seven, which sounds like a slot machine, and there is something to that — you sit down, you buckle the little belt, and if the universe is behaving, you land in Tokyo instead of Cleveland. It is wide-bodied, a phrase I understand on a personal level, and it flies farther without stopping than most of my relationships have lasted. Settle in. This one's going to be fine.

✨ A Few Reasons I've Finally Come Around on This Airplane
It took me years, but I have made my peace with the 777, and here is why:
- 🛏️ Actual Room for Your Knees: I did not know, until embarrassingly late in life, that a person's legs were meant to fully extend on an airplane. The 777 has figured this out. My knees have never been so grateful to a piece of machinery.
- 🛠️ An Outlet, Right There, When You Need It: On some planes, finding a working USB port is like reading Tolstoy in the original Russian — technically possible, spiritually exhausting. Here, it's simply there. I could weep.
- ♻️ It Doesn't Waste Things: I admire anything that doesn't waste things, whether it's jet fuel or a good piece of Parmesan rind. The 777 sips gas the way I nurse a martini — efficiently, and with real purpose.
- 🌍 It Goes, and Goes, and Goes: Nearly 9,842 miles without stopping, which is farther than I have ever personally driven for a man, and I once drove to Cleveland for one.

✈️ The Airlines Worth Flying, and Why I Have Opinions About Each
The 777 is only as good as the airline flying it, and on that subject, naturally, I have opinions:
- Emirates: If you want to spend eleven hours pretending your life is a movie starring Cary Grant, this is your airline. The suites lie flat; more of us should, more often.
- Singapore Airlines: This airline treats you like a beloved niece who has just published her first novel. The entertainment system alone could get a person through a rough divorce.
- British Airways: They will fly you nearly anywhere and offer you tea while doing it, which I find genuinely moving — tea being the drink of people who have already decided everything is going to be fine.
- American Airlines: The reliable friend who shows up to help you move apartments. Not glamorous. Always there.
- Qatar Airways: Excellent in every cabin class, the way certain women manage to look wonderful in absolutely anything, up to and including, I assume, a paper bag.

🗺️ Where This Very Large Airplane Can Actually Take You
A 777 is, in the end, a very expensive way of turning distance into an afternoon. A few places it goes:
- 🇬🇧 London (LHR) to Dubai (DXB): Emirates' signature route, and a reliable way to trade drizzle for forty degrees Celsius in under seven hours.
- 🇺🇸 New York (JFK) to Tokyo (NRT): A proper transpacific haul with ANA or JAL, long enough to watch three mediocre movies and have one genuine thought.
- 🇺🇸 Los Angeles (LAX) to Sydney (SYD): Ultra-long-haul with Qantas or United — pack the book you've been meaning to read for years, because now you have no excuse.
- 🇶🇦 Doha (DOH) to Johannesburg (JNB): Qatar Airways, and one of the more scenic ways to cross a continent you weren't planning on crossing.
- 🇫🇷 Paris (CDG) to Bangkok (BKK): Air France, for people who like to bookend adventure with excellent bread on one side.

A Few Things I've Learned About Flying, Some the Hard Way
- 🛏️ Pick Your Seat Like You Mean It: Economy runs 3-3-3 or 3-4-3, so choose a window if you like leaning on things, or an aisle if you enjoy your freedom more than you enjoy the view.
- 🌈 Consider the Upgrade: Premium economy or business buys you legroom and, more importantly, the sense that you have accomplished something with your life.
- 🛋️ Pack Like You've Done This Before: Use the overhead bins, yes, but keep your headphones and a travel pillow within arm's reach, because dignity is fragile at 35,000 feet.
- 🎥 Let the Entertainment System Do Its Job: Most 777s come loaded with more movies than you'll watch in a year on the ground. Let it babysit you. That's what it's there for.
Go Ahead and Book the Triple Seven
Life is short, and layovers are longer than they need to be, so here's my advice: just book the flight.Use Laters.com to compare fares, find your route, and get on with it. Whether you're calling this trip business for your accountant's sake or it's simply an excuse to leave, the Boeing 777 will get you there — comfortably, and probably in one piece.
