Which Airlines Have Beds?
Every long-haul business class on a major airline now sells a fully flat bed, Qatar Airways and Delta close a door on it, first class adds a room and on some airlines a double bed, and economy has beds on exactly one airline: Air New Zealand's Skynest pods, booked by the four-hour session. The airline you pick decides whether the bed is a seat that flattens or a room that closes.
Airlines with beds in business class: fully flat beds
On the big long-haul carriers the business seat is the bed. Delta's Delta One is the plain example: "Each 180-degree lie-flat seat adjusts easily and is paired with luxury bedding from Missoni, including a lumbar pillow that doubles as a mattress pad", and on most of its Airbus A350 and A330-900 aircraft the Delta One suite adds "full-height doors and privacy dividers" (Delta, read 17 September 2026).
Lufthansa's new long-haul product, Allegris, goes further and lets you choose the kind of bed: "Five different seat types, tailored to different wishes and needs, in Lufthansa Allegris Business Class the choice is yours", with "more privacy, more comfort, and more ways to personalize your trip". It flies "on selected routes" from Munich and Frankfurt, and the Airbus A350-1000 that carries it across all four classes joins the fleet "starting in winter 2026/27" (Lufthansa, read 18 September 2026).
Qatar Airways sells the business seat as a room. Qsuite, "the World's Best Business Class, as recognised by the 2024 Skytrax World Airline Awards", comes in four layouts, Single Suite, Twin Suite, Double Suite and The Quad, and "movable panels will allow you to transform your space into a social area, allowing you to work, dine or socialise at 40,000 feet". For sleeping: "Our bespoke turndown service complete with pillows, a quilted mattress and a soft, plush blanket" and "Our suites feature doors and a Do Not Disturb indicator, so your slumber is guaranteed to be uninterrupted". It is also "our first-ever cabin to offer rear-facing and forward-facing seats", which is what makes the quad possible (Qatar Airways, read 18 September 2026).
The thing to check on any airline is the word "fully": a fully flat bed lies at 180 degrees; an "angled lie-flat" seat does not, and older aircraft on the same airline may still have it.
Which airline has a bed in first class?
The ones that sell a room rather than a seat.
Emirates. On the A380, "close the privacy doors and you are in a world of your own", with an onboard shower spa and a lounge bar down the aisle. On the Boeing 777 the "fully enclosed First Class Suite" is "your own private hotel room in the sky", with temperature controls, mood lighting and, an industry first, virtual windows in the middle suites. Both are "available on selected routes depending on aircraft type, model and configuration" (Emirates, read 18 September 2026).
Singapore Airlines. Suites on the Airbus A380: an armchair "richly upholstered in full grain leather by Poltrona Frau" that "reclines and swivels freely", "a sliding door that screens the outside world away", a 32-inch screen, and a wardrobe "spacious enough to house your cabin luggage" (Singapore Airlines, read 18 September 2026).
Lufthansa. Allegris First Class: "Step inside, close the door, and experience maximum privacy and first-class comfort above the clouds" (Lufthansa).
Beds in economy: Air New Zealand's Skynest
One airline sells a bed to economy passengers. Skynest is "the world's first sleep pods in the sky": "six individual lie-flat nests designed for Economy and Premium Economy passengers", booked as "a four-hour session" on top of your seat, "one session can be booked per passenger, per flight", for passengers "aged 15 years and older". Each nest has a full-sized pillow, sheets, a blanket, a mesh privacy curtain, reading light, USB-A and USB-C sockets and a seatbelt that goes over the blanket. It is "available on our Boeing 787-9 V5 aircraft, on select long-haul flights between New York and Auckland" (Air New Zealand, read 18 September 2026). Getting in "may involve bending, kneeling, crawling, or climbing"; the bottom nests are at floor level.
Air New Zealand's other economy option, Skycouch, turns a row of seats into a couch and is booked as a row, not a pod.
Planes with beds: which aircraft
The bed belongs to the cabin product, not the aircraft, but the products live on particular planes: the Airbus A380 carries Emirates' shower-equipped First Class and Singapore Airlines' Suites; Delta's suites with doors are on most A350 and A330-900 flights; Skynest is on the Boeing 787-9; Lufthansa's Allegris arrives across all classes on the A350-1000 from winter 2026/27. Two flights on the same route can carry different aircraft, so check the aircraft type on the booking, not just the airline.
How much does a flight with a bed cost?
A business or first class fare, and on Air New Zealand an economy fare plus the Skynest session, which is priced per session at booking. No airline publishes a single "bed price": the fare moves with the route, the date and how far ahead you book, so the number you can trust is the one in the search results for your dates. Qatar Airways' Qsuite Double Suite is the business-class version: two suites for two people travelling together, with the movable panel between them opened, and The Quad does the same for four. Elsewhere, couples get two beds side by side with a divider that lowers; a shared bed is a Singapore Airlines feature.
