Air India pay later

Can You Pay Later on Air India?

Yes, on Every Route They Fly, on Laters.com

Yes. Book Air India on Laters.com and pay later in instalments with a plan chosen at checkout, and the e-ticket arrives straight away. It works on every route Air India flies and every fare class, because the choice sits at checkout rather than with the airline, and the providers offered depend on the country you book from.

Paying later is a payment method at the Laters.com checkout, not something Air India has to switch on, which is why it works on every route we ticket. Search the route, choose a provider on the payment screen, pick a plan, and the e-ticket arrives as soon as payment is approved. Which plans someone sees is set by the country they book from, not by the airline they fly, and checkout shows only the plans their fare qualifies for, so there is nothing to work out in advance.

An instalment plan leaves the fare alone, and the baggage allowance, and the seat, and what the fare class earns in Air India's own loyalty programme. The traveller flies as Air India's own passenger on Air India's own fare rules, and only the paying is spread. On the credit itself, told plainly: interest-free instalment plans run a soft eligibility check that does not affect a credit score, interest-bearing monthly financing runs a full credit check, and approval is never guaranteed on either. A reader who wants no plan at all can still pay in full by card, or with crypto, at the same checkout.

Atome, Afterpay

Air India is paid in full at booking, so the e-ticket issues straight away. The traveller then repays the provider on the chosen plan. The same instalment shape often trades under other names depending on provider and market.

Illustrative only. The figures above are computed from the fare you set: plain division for the interest-free plans, and each plan's own illustrative rate over its stated term for monthly financing. They are not an offer, a quote, or a prediction of what you will be given. Laters.com is not the lender and takes no part in the decision: which plans appear, the instalment amounts, any interest and fees, and whether you are eligible at all are determined by the provider alone, and depend on a credit or eligibility assessment, your country and your basket. The only way to see your real plans is to choose a provider at checkout, at which point that provider, not Laters.com, approves or declines the purchase. All plans, rates, fees and terms are estimates only and subject to approval and to change.

Laters.com vs booking direct

Why buy Air India flights with Laters.com?

Booking direct with the airline is a reasonable choice if you're paying by card in one go. What it won't give you is a single search across every airline we sell, or a choice of pay-later plans at checkout. Book through Laters.com and you still get the same Air India ticket, issued on the airline's own fare rules, with the same baggage allowance, seat selection and loyalty earning. Only how you pay for it changes.

What we deliberately left out

  1. Safety. It is not a marketing metric and we will not rank carriers on it.
  2. Cancellation rate and fleet age. Omitted rather than estimated, until a sourced field exists for every airline.
  3. Any sub-metric we cannot attribute. An unsourced measure is dropped, not guessed.
  4. Blended third-party scores that mix in inputs we have already rejected elsewhere on this page.

FAQs: Booking Air India and Paying Later

Everything about booking Air India flights on Laters.com and splitting the fare, plus the airlineโ€™s own rules that decide what you get.

Can I book Air India flights with buy now, pay later?

Yes. Book Air India on Laters.com and choose a pay-later provider at checkout. It works on every Air India route we sell, and the e-ticket is issued as soon as the payment is approved. The plans you see depend on the country you book from and on your fare.

Does paying in instalments change my Air India ticket?

No. You get the same Air India ticket at the same fare, issued under the airline's own fare rules and conditions of carriage, with the same baggage allowance and seat selection. Only the way you pay for it is spread out.

How much cabin baggage can I take on Air India?

Economy and Premium Economy passengers can carry one cabin bag of up to 7 kg, and First and Business passengers up to 10 kg. The bag must fit within 55 x 40 x 20 cm (115 cm in total). You can also bring one small personal item of up to 3 kg that fits under the seat in front.

What is the checked baggage allowance on Air India?

On domestic flights, Economy includes 15 kg on Value fares, 20 kg on Classic and 25 kg on Flex. International allowances vary by region, and routes to Europe, the USA, Canada and Japan use a piece concept of one or two bags at 23 kg each. No single checked bag may weigh more than 32 kg.

When does Air India web check-in open?

Web check-in opens 48 hours before the scheduled departure and closes 2 hours before international flights and 1 hour before domestic flights. Airport check-in counters generally open 3 hours before departure and close 1 hour before, or 75 minutes before for international flights leaving Delhi.

Can I earn Maharaja Club points on a flight paid in instalments?

Yes. Maharaja Club is Air India's free loyalty programme, and points are earned per INR 100 spent on the fare, starting at 6 points on the Red tier. Points can be earned on Air India, Air India Express and Star Alliance partner flights. The 2 bonus points per INR 100 that Air India offers for bookings on its own website and app do not apply to bookings made elsewhere.

What happens if I cancel an Air India flight paid with pay later?

Cancellation charges follow the rules of your Air India fare, which depend on the fare type, the route and how close to departure you cancel. Air India says refunds usually take 7 to 10 business days to process and go back to the payment method used for the booking, so check with your pay-later provider how a refund is applied to any instalments still due.

Is Air India part of an airline alliance?

Yes. Air India is a member of Star Alliance, which it describes as the world's largest global airline alliance. That lets you connect onto partner airlines and earn or redeem Maharaja Club points when flying with them.

Can I pay my Air India air ticket in instalments?

Yes, on Laters.com. Choose a pay-later provider such as Grab, Tabby or Atome at checkout where one is offered in your country, and the e-ticket issues once payment is approved. Booking direct, Air India says it does not offer book now, pay later; its only instalment route is EMI on an Indian bank credit card.

What payment options are available for Air India tickets?

On airindia.com, Air India accepts credit cards (American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club, Discover and JCB), RuPay, internet banking, e-wallets, UPI and EMI, and adds a non-refundable convenience fee to every web, app and call-centre booking. On Laters.com the same Air India fare can be paid by card, with crypto such as Bitcoin or USDC, or on a pay-later plan, with no booking fee.

Can I pay Air India flight tickets on EMI?

Yes, with an Indian bank credit card. Air India's own FAQ confirms EMI on bookings made on its website and app, and banks such as HDFC and ICICI run time-limited EMI offers there. EMI is credit from your bank, so the bank sets the tenure and interest. Without an Indian credit card, a pay-later plan at the Laters.com checkout is the alternative where one is offered in your country.

Can I pay monthly for my Air India flight ticket?

Yes, through Laters.com, where providers such as Grab and Tabby offer monthly plans in their own markets, with interest set by the provider and a credit check. Air India has no pay-monthly plan of its own beyond bank credit-card EMI, and its Fare Lock only holds a fare for 48 hours before you pay in full.

Who is Air India?

Air India is India's flag carrier, flying under the IATA code AI. It carries the reputation of a national airline in transition, with a mix of older cabins and newer aircraft coming into the fleet.

Book an Air India fare through Laters.com and split it into instalments, and the flight itself does not change. The fare is the one you'd pay by card, the checked and cabin baggage allowance is whatever that fare carries, and any loyalty points earned follow the fare class as normal. Air India issues the ticket under its own conditions of carriage, so you fly as its passenger in every sense, only the payment is spread out. That spreading is a form of credit: some plans carry interest and some don't, a soft check may apply depending on the plan, and missing a payment can bring a late fee and consequences with the provider, so treat it the way you'd treat any other credit commitment.

Fleet and on-time performance

Air India runs a mixed fleet rather than sticking to one aircraft type, pairing widebody jets for long-haul routes with narrowbody aircraft for shorter regional hops. Deliveries and retirements move the numbers over time, so treat the fleet as a snapshot from when it was last confirmed rather than a fixed figure. Cancellation rate and average fleet age aren't included here, because no published, sourced figure for either was available to draw on.
