Can You Pay Later on Aeromar?

No — Aeromar Ceased Operations in February 2023

No, not anymore. Aeromar stopped flying on 15 February 2023, so no pay-later plan can be started for an Aeromar fare at the Laters.com checkout. The same checkout covers the carriers that picked up the routes it left.

Paying later is a payment method at the Laters.com checkout, not something an airline switches on, so it works on every airline we ticket. Aeromar is not one of them now, as it stopped flying in February 2023. On a live airline you search the route, choose a provider, pick a plan, and get the e-ticket once payment is approved. Plans shown depend on the country you book from, and checkout lists only those your fare qualifies for.

An instalment plan leaves the fare, the baggage allowance, the seat and any loyalty credit alone. Passengers fly on the airline's own fare rules, and only the paying is spread. Interest-free plans run a soft eligibility check that does not affect a credit score. Interest-bearing monthly financing runs a full credit check. Approval is never guaranteed on either. Borrow only what you can repay. Paying in full by card or crypto at the same checkout is always an option.

  1. Search Aeromar and compare the fare
  2. Choose a pay-later plan at checkout
  3. Fly now, pay later: your e-ticket arrives once the flight is ticketed

This is a calculator, not a brochure. Set an Aeromar fare and every plan shape below prices itself against that number. Which shapes you see depends on the provider and your market. The interest-bearing shape needs a full credit check, and the terms are worth reading before you book. Paying later is credit.

Aeromar is paid in full at booking, you repay the provider on your chosen plan, and the e-ticket is issued straight away. The same short payment shape trades under different names by provider and market, so the plan you see may not carry the name used here.

Illustrative only. The figures above are computed from the fare you set: plain division for the interest-free plans, and each plan's own illustrative rate over its stated term for monthly financing. They are not an offer, a quote, or a prediction of what you will be given. Laters.com is not the lender and takes no part in the decision: which plans appear, the instalment amounts, any interest and fees, and whether you are eligible at all are determined by the provider alone, and depend on a credit or eligibility assessment, your country and your basket. The only way to see your real plans is to choose a provider at checkout, at which point that provider, not Laters.com, approves or declines the purchase. All plans, rates, fees and terms are estimates only and subject to approval and to change.

Laters.com vs booking direct

Aeromar Has Ceased — Compare Other Airlines Instead

Booking direct with the airline is a reasonable choice for a straight card payment. It doesn't give you one search across every airline we sell, or the choice of pay-later plans at the Laters.com checkout: Affirm Stripe, AFTEE, Afterpay and Akulaku. Pay later is credit, so borrow only what you can repay. The ticket doesn't change: it is the same Aeromar ticket, issued on the airline's own fare rules, with the same baggage allowance, seat selection and loyalty earning, even though the fare was split.

The Laters.com Airline Quality Score - Aeromar

Cyan cartoon hand making a peace sign with black outline sticker style illustration

What is the Laters.com Airline Quality Score?

Our editorial rating, out of 10, for what an airline is actually like to fly once you have booked it.

  1. 1Reliability & operations
  2. 2Comfort & experience
  3. 3Value & network
  4. 4Professional airline rating

Every airline we ticket is scored on the same 4 measures, so you can compare them like for like before you book. See the full methodology See all airline scores →

Scored by the Laters.com editorial team from the airline’s own published specifications and named third-party measurements. No airline pays to be rated, no placement is sold, and this page contains no affiliate links.

Aeromar scores 2.4 out of 10: the plain average of the measures below, rounded to one decimal. Each measure is an editorial assessment of the published facts.

What to watch

  • Ceased all operations on 15 February 2023, no flights
  • Debt reportedly MXN4-7 billion at closure (estimates vary; never disclosed by the airline)
  • No cabin, baggage, fee or loyalty details were ever confirmed
  • No star rating or award was ever confirmed for Aeromar

The editorial take

4 measures, scored the same way for every airline we ticket.

Reliability & operations1/10

Aeromar ceased all operations on 15 February 2023, after the Mexico City International Airport operator suspended services over a MXN500 million debt. No on-time figure was researched, so there is no punctuality percentage to weigh. Reviewer complaints cite frequent delays. Nothing can be booked or flown today, which holds this score near the floor.

Sources: ch-aviation: Mexico's Aeromar Airlines ceases operations (15 Feb 2023)

Comfort & experience3/10

No cabin names, seat pitch or seat width were confirmed, so there is no pitch to measure, and no onboard product (wifi, meals, entertainment) was ever researched. The missing onboard product holds this down.

Value & network3/10

In February 2023 the network covered 13 cities in Mexico and 2 abroad from Mexico City, and Aeromar was the only carrier to Ciudad Victoria, Ixtepec and Piedras Negras. Baggage, fees and loyalty were never confirmed, and no routes now operate.

Professional airline rating2.5/10

No star rating or award was confirmed for Aeromar from any named body. With no issuer rating or award to quote, this stays low.

How the score is built

  • 4 measures, each scored out of 10
  • The headline is the plain average of those measures, computed in the open
  • Each measure is an editorial assessment based on the published facts and sources in the breakdown
  • No airline pays to be rated, and no placement is sold

What we deliberately left out

  1. Safety. It is not a marketing metric and we will not rank carriers on it.
  2. Cancellation rate and fleet age. Omitted rather than estimated, until a sourced field exists for every airline.
  3. Any sub-metric we cannot attribute. An unsourced measure is dropped, not guessed.
  4. Blended third-party scores that mix in inputs we have already rejected elsewhere on this page.

The full method, measure by measure, is on how we score airlines.

FAQs: Booking Aeromar and Paying Later

Everything about booking Aeromar flights on Laters.com and splitting the fare, plus the airline’s own rules that decide what you get.

Can I book an Aeromar flight and pay later on Laters.com?

No. Aeromar (VW) ceased all operations on 15 February 2023, so it has no flights on sale and no pay-later plan can be started for it. Laters.com lists 650+ airlines that are still flying, and pay later at checkout works on those.

Why did Aeromar stop flying?

Aeromar cited heavy financial losses and no new investors when it shut down on 15 February 2023. Estimates of its total debt vary by source, from about MXN4 billion to MXN7 billion (roughly USD200-370 million); Aeromar itself never disclosed a total figure, and the higher estimate comes from the flight attendants' union. Rescue talks with Nella Airlines UK on 13 February 2023 ended without a deal.

Which pay-later providers could I use for an Aeromar flight at checkout?

None, because Aeromar has not operated since 15 February 2023. For airlines that are flying, Laters.com checkout shows Affirm Stripe, AFTEE, Afterpay and Akulaku. Each provider decides on your approval and sets its own terms.

Is there a credit check for pay later on Aeromar flights?

No Aeromar booking can be made, since the airline closed on 15 February 2023, so no check applies to it. On a flight with another airline, the pay-later provider you pick decides whether to approve you and what it checks. Read that provider's terms before you accept, because paying later is credit.

What happens if I miss an instalment on a ticket bought for Aeromar before it closed?

The plan is an agreement between you and the pay-later provider, and it does not end because Aeromar shut down on 15 February 2023. Late fees and next steps are set by that provider, and Laters.com has no confirmed figures for them. Contact the provider before a payment date if you expect to miss it.

Can I get a refund for an Aeromar ticket now that the airline has closed?

Aeromar stopped operating on 15 February 2023 with debt estimated at MXN4-7 billion depending on the source (the airline never disclosed a total figure), and no refund terms for its tickets have been confirmed here. Start with whoever took your payment, such as the pay-later provider or your card issuer. Ask them how an unflown ticket on a closed airline is handled and whether your remaining instalments stop.

What were Aeromar's baggage allowance and check-in times?

Aeromar's carry-on and checked baggage allowances and its check-in windows were never confirmed, and the airline has not flown since 15 February 2023. There is nothing to check in for. If you rebook on Aeroméxico, Volaris, Viva Aerobus or TAR Aerolíneas, use that airline's own baggage and check-in rules.

How should I choose an instalment plan for a bigger fare to replace an Aeromar route?

Aeromar fares can no longer be bought, so price the replacement airline's fare instead. Compare prices from multiple providers in one Laters.com search, then pick the shortest plan whose instalments you can cover without strain. Laters.com adds no hidden booking fees, but the pay-later provider's own costs and terms are shown at checkout.

Is pay later for Aeromar available in my country?

Aeromar was a Mexican airline based at Mexico City International Airport (MEX), but it closed on 15 February 2023, so it is not bookable anywhere. For other airlines, the providers on Laters.com checkout are Affirm Stripe, AFTEE, Afterpay and Akulaku. Which of them you can use depends on your location and the provider's own rules.

Does pay later affect my credit score if I book instead of Aeromar?

Laters.com has no confirmed figures on how each provider reports to credit bureaus. Aeromar cannot be booked after its 15 February 2023 closure, so no Aeromar plan will appear on your file. Before you accept a plan for another airline, read the provider's terms on credit reporting and missed payments.

Which airline took over Aeromar's Mexico City routes?

No airline took over all of them. Aeroméxico (AM) said it would bring forward Mexico City flights to Ciudad Victoria, Colima and Tepic from 16 March 2023. Volaris, Viva Aerobus and Aeroméxico were named as the three Mexican carriers able to fill Aeromar's routes.

Which routes had Aeromar as the only airline?

Aeromar was the only carrier to Ciudad Victoria (CVM), Ixtepec (IZT) and Piedras Negras (PDS), with five weekly flights from each to Mexico City. It was also the only operator on Mexico City to McAllen, Texas, with 3 weekly flights. After 15 February 2023 those links lost their direct service from Aeromar.

Can I pay later for Viva Aerobus or TAR AerolĂneas on routes Aeromar left?

Yes, both airlines are on Laters.com, and pay later is offered at checkout subject to the provider's approval. Viva Aerobus was left as the only operator on CancĂșn to Villahermosa and still flies CancĂșn to Havana. TAR AerolĂneas was left as the only operator on Aguascalientes to Puerto Vallarta.

What was Aeromar's network before it closed?

Aeromar was founded in 1987 and based at Mexico City International Airport (MEX). In February 2023 its network covered 13 cities in Mexico and 2 abroad. It had already stopped CancĂșn to Managua, Mexico City to Laredo, Monterrey to McAllen and CancĂșn to Havana in January 2023.

Is Aeromar still in business?

No. Aeromar (VW) ceased all operations on 15 February 2023, citing heavy financial losses and no new investors, after the Mexico City International Airport operator suspended services over an unpaid debt. There is nothing to book on it today.

Who owns Aeromar?

Aeromar's owners were headed by businessman Zvi Katz, who was also the company's president. In February 2023 the company said its owners had taken no dividends or benefits for two decades; a planned sale of a stake to Brazil's Nella Airlines did not close before the shutdown. Ownership has not changed since, because the airline has not resumed operating.

How do I contact Aeromar?

There is no current way to contact Aeromar as an operating airline: it ceased all operations on 15 February 2023, and its old aeromar.mx domain no longer belongs to the airline. If you are chasing a refund or an unused ticket, start with whoever took your payment (your card issuer or pay-later provider) rather than the airline.

How do I check in with Aeromar?

You cannot check in with Aeromar: it has not operated a flight since 15 February 2023 and has no check-in system running. If you are flying a route it used to serve, use the check-in process of the airline now operating it, such as Aeromexico, Volaris, Viva Aerobus or TAR Aerolineas.

Who is Aeromar?

Aeromar is a Mexican airline, traded as Transportes Aeromar, founded in 1987 and based at Mexico City International Airport (MEX). It ceased all operations in February 2023, citing heavy financial losses and no new investors. We have no confirmed rating, award, alliance or loyalty programme for it, so this page does not claim any.

That changes what you can do here. Aeromar no longer sells flights, so there is nothing to book on it, in instalments or any other way. The carriers that moved onto its routes are still flying: Aeromexico, TAR Aerolineas, Viva Aerobus and Volaris.

On those airlines, paying later changes only when you pay. The fare is the same as paying by card. The baggage allowance is the one the fare carries. Loyalty earning is what the fare class earns. The ticket is issued on the airline's own rules, so you fly as that airline's passenger and simply spread the cost.

Paying later is credit. A soft credit check may apply, some plans carry interest, and a late fee may apply if you miss a payment. A missed instalment has consequences with the provider, so split a fare only if you are confident you can repay it on schedule.

Fleet and on-time performance

Aeromar has no fleet to describe. The airline has ceased operations and no aircraft are in service, so there is no manufacturer, type mix or long-haul aircraft to name. Fleet counts move with deliveries and retirements, and none are confirmed in service at all. Before it closed, Aeromar flew a short regional network out of Mexico City, serving cities across Mexico and reaching McAllen, Texas. For several small cities it was the only carrier with scheduled flights. Cancellation rate and fleet age are left out on purpose, because we have no confirmed figure for either and we do not estimate. If you want similar routes today, the carriers named above are the place to look.
