Can You Pay Later on Wingo?

Yes, on Every Route They Fly, on Laters.com

Yes. You can book Wingo flights on Laters.com and split the fare with a pay-in-4 plan from Afterpay, or financing from Affirm, AFTEE or Akulaku, right at checkout, then collect your e-ticket once payment is approved.

Paying later is a payment method at the Laters.com checkout, not something Wingo has to switch on, which is why it works on every route we ticket. Search the route, choose a provider on the payment screen, pick a plan, and the e-ticket arrives once payment is approved. Which plans you see depends on the country you book from, not the airline you fly. Checkout shows only plans your fare qualifies for, so there is nothing to work out.

An instalment plan leaves the fare, the baggage allowance, the seat and what the fare earns from Wingo alone. You fly as Wingo's own passenger on Wingo's own fare rules, and only the paying is spread. Interest-free plans run a soft eligibility check that does not affect your credit score. Monthly financing with interest runs a full credit check. Approval is never guaranteed on either. Prefer no plan? Pay in full by card or crypto at the same checkout.

Illustrative only. The figures above are computed from the fare you set: plain division for the interest-free plans, and each plan's own illustrative rate over its stated term for monthly financing. They are not an offer, a quote, or a prediction of what you will be given. Laters.com is not the lender and takes no part in the decision: which plans appear, the instalment amounts, any interest and fees, and whether you are eligible at all are determined by the provider alone, and depend on a credit or eligibility assessment, your country and your basket. The only way to see your real plans is to choose a provider at checkout, at which point that provider, not Laters.com, approves or declines the purchase. All plans, rates, fees and terms are estimates only and subject to approval and to change.

Laters.com vs booking direct

Why buy Wingo flights with Laters.com?

Booking direct with the airline is a reasonable choice for a straight card payment. What the airline's own checkout does not give you is one search across every airline we sell, or a choice of pay-later plans at payment. Laters.com has both. The ticket is the same Wingo ticket, issued on the airline's own fare rules, with the same baggage allowance, the same seat selection and the same loyalty earning. Splitting the fare changes none of it. Pay-later plans are credit, so borrow only what you can repay.

What is the Laters.com Airline Quality Score?

Our editorial rating, out of 10, for what an airline is actually like to fly once you have booked it.

  1. 1Reliability & operations
  2. 2Comfort & experience
  3. 3Value & network
  4. 4Professional airline rating

Every airline we ticket is scored on the same 4 measures, so you can compare them like for like before you book. See the full methodology See all airline scores →

Scored by the Laters.com editorial team from the airline’s own published specifications and named third-party measurements. No airline pays to be rated, no placement is sold, and this page contains no affiliate links.

Wingo scores 4.8 out of 10: the plain average of the measures below, rounded to one decimal. Each measure is an editorial assessment of the published facts.

What to watch

  • No punctuality figure published; Cirium has no Wingo entry
  • Cabin bag is a paid second piece
  • Seat pitch and width unconfirmed on 186-seat 737-800s
  • Assistance equipment needs 24 hours' notice and medical certificate

Reliability & operations6/10

Wingo flies a single type, nine Boeing 737-800s with 186 seats as of August 2025. No on-time figure is published, and the Cirium review has no Wingo entry. With no named punctuality measure and no confirmed minimum connection time at BOG, this stays at 6.

Sources: CAPA airline profile: Wingo

Comfort & experience4/10

No cabin facts are confirmed: seat pitch, seat width and cabin names are all unpublished. At launch Copa said Wingo would offer one class of seats and charge for food, drinks and seat assignments. Check each extra before paying. The missing seat pitch holds this below 5.

Value & network5/10

Copa said at launch that Wingo would charge for baggage, food, drinks, seat assignments and priority boarding. Under the contract of carriage a cabin bag is a second piece, paid at Wingo's set charge. Mobility aids travel free. No allowances, fee amounts or loyalty programme are confirmed, which holds this at 5.

Professional airline rating4/10

No star rating, award or named rating body is on record for Wingo. It has flown since December 2016 and belongs to Copa Holdings, but ownership is not a rating. Until a named body scores it, this stays at 4.

How the score is built

  • 4 measures, each scored out of 10
  • The headline is the plain average of those measures, computed in the open
  • Each measure is an editorial assessment based on the published facts and sources in the breakdown
  • No airline pays to be rated, and no placement is sold

What we deliberately left out

  1. Safety. It is not a marketing metric and we will not rank carriers on it.
  2. Cancellation rate and fleet age. Omitted rather than estimated, until a sourced field exists for every airline.
  3. Any sub-metric we cannot attribute. An unsourced measure is dropped, not guessed.
  4. Blended third-party scores that mix in inputs we have already rejected elsewhere on this page.

The full method, measure by measure, is on how we score airlines.

FAQs: Booking Wingo and Paying Later

Everything about booking Wingo flights on Laters.com and splitting the fare, plus the airline’s own rules that decide what you get.

Wingo Boeing 737-700 at the gate at Cali airport at night

Can I book a Wingo flight on Laters and pay later?

Yes. At the Laters.com checkout for Wingo flights, the pay-later providers appear in this order: Afterpay, Affirm Stripe, AFTEE and Akulaku. The provider decides whether to approve you. The e-ticket is delivered instantly after approval. Paying later is credit, so borrow only what you can repay on schedule.

Do I need a Visa or MasterCard to book Wingo through Laters?

No card from that list is required to see the pay-later options. The wingo.com footer shows only Visa and MasterCard logos under "Paga con", so Laters adds the four pay-later providers (Afterpay, Affirm Stripe, AFTEE, Akulaku) for travellers who want to split the cost. Which providers you can use depends on their own approval rules.

Will paying for a Wingo flight later affect my credit score?

That depends on the provider you choose from Afterpay, Affirm Stripe, AFTEE and Akulaku, and Laters cannot state how each one reports. Ask the provider whether it checks or reports to credit bureaus before you accept. Wingo has charged separately for bags, food and drinks, seat assignments and priority boarding since launch, so count those extras when judging what you can afford to repay.

What if Wingo cancels my flight and I am paying in instalments?

Refund rules for Wingo cancellations sit in its contract of carriage, and no Wingo refund terms were confirmed. Your instalment plan is a separate agreement with the pay-later provider. Ask the provider how a refund from Wingo would be applied to your plan before you rely on it.

Does a Wingo fare include a cabin bag or checked bag?

Allowances were not confirmed, so check Wingo's baggage page before you pay. Under Wingo's contract of carriage, a cabin bag is a second piece you may bring only after paying Wingo's charge, and it goes in the overhead bins. Checked baggage is also paid for and must meet Wingo's weight and size standards.

How much does Wingo pay if it loses my checked bag?

On domestic flights, Wingo's contract of carriage sets compensation for lost checked baggage at COP 20,000 per kg, up to COP 400,000. On international flights the maximum is 1,131 Special Drawing Rights under the Montreal Convention. Keep your baggage tag and file the claim with Wingo directly.

Can I bring a wheelchair or oxygen equipment on Wingo?

Mobility and assistance devices that meet the cabin or checked baggage rules do not count as an extra piece and are free. For vital therapeutic equipment such as portable oxygen, concentrators or manual wheelchairs, tell Wingo through its call center at least 24 hours ahead and show a medical certificate. Some passengers need a companion aged 18 or over, who pays the applicable fare.

Can I take a pet on a Wingo flight?

Wingo carries only domestic animals it has authorised in advance, in the cabin, for a charge set by its policies. It does not carry animals in the hold on any of its flights. A guide dog travels in the cabin at your feet, even above 10 kg, and must wear a muzzle and have up-to-date vaccinations.

How do I choose a payment plan for a bigger Wingo booking?

Start with the total, not just the fare, because Wingo charges separately for baggage, food and drinks, seat assignments and priority boarding. Wingo does not accept children under 12 travelling alone, so a family booking includes an adult. Pick the plan with a repayment schedule you can meet from your income, and compare the providers' terms at checkout.

Are the pay-later options available in every country when booking Wingo?

Availability of Afterpay, Affirm Stripe, AFTEE and Akulaku depends on each provider's own country and eligibility rules, and none were confirmed for Wingo's Latin American and Caribbean network. Laters works on every airline, route and fare class at checkout, so the limit is the provider, not the Wingo fare. The checkout shows which providers you can use.

How big is Wingo and who owns it?

Wingo is the trading name of AeroRepĂșblica S.A. and is owned by Copa Holdings. It was founded in 2016, flies from a main hub at Bogota El Dorado International Airport (BOG), and had 9 Boeing 737-800s with 186 seats each in service as of August 2025. Operations began on 1 December 2016 with a BogotĂĄ to CancĂșn flight.

Which airlines compete with Wingo if I want to compare prices?

Avianca competes with Wingo on Colombian domestic and regional routes, and LATAM Airlines Colombia competes on Colombian domestic routes. Copa Airlines is the flag carrier of Wingo's parent group, Copa Holdings, and serves Colombia to Panama routes. Laters compares prices from multiple providers in one search across 650+ airlines, with no hidden booking fees.

Can I set up a payment plan for flights?

Yes. When you book a Wingo flight through Laters.com, checkout offers pay-later plans from Afterpay, Affirm (via Stripe), AFTEE and Akulaku instead of paying the full fare upfront. Interest-free pay-in-4 style plans run a soft eligibility check that doesn't affect your credit score, while interest-bearing monthly financing (like Affirm's) runs a full credit check; either way, approval is never guaranteed.

What payment plans are available for flights?

On Laters.com, Wingo fares can be split using four pay-later options at checkout: Afterpay, Affirm (Stripe-powered), AFTEE and Akulaku. The interest-free, pay-in-4-style options (Afterpay, AFTEE, Akulaku) use a soft eligibility check that leaves your credit score untouched, while Affirm's monthly financing involves a full credit check and may carry interest. None of these guarantee approval.

What airline allows monthly payments?

Several airlines let you pay for flights monthly through a buy-now-pay-later partner, and on Laters.com that includes Wingo via Affirm's Stripe-powered financing. Airlines such as Cathay Pacific and American Airlines have also partnered directly with Affirm for monthly instalment checkout. Monthly plans like these run a full credit check (unlike the soft check used for interest-free pay-in-4 plans), and approval is never guaranteed.

Is Wingo a trusted airline?

Wingo (trading name of AeroRepĂșblica, S.A.) is a Colombian low-cost carrier owned by Copa Holdings, founded in October 2016 and based at BogotĂĄ's El Dorado airport. It holds IATA's IOSA operational safety certification, which Wingo's CEO has cited as evidence of meeting international safety standards. Laters.com hasn't found an independently sourced on-time-performance or reliability rating for Wingo, so we can't make a broader trust claim beyond its ownership, safety certification, and corporate track record.

Is Wingo a Colombian airline?

Yes. Wingo is a Colombian low-cost carrier, the trading name of AeroRepĂșblica, S.A., headquartered in BogotĂĄ and based at El Dorado International Airport (BOG). It's owned by Panama-based Copa Holdings and began flying on 1 December 2016, following Copa's October 2016 announcement creating the brand.

Can I pay for flights in 4 instalments using PayPal?

PayPal's own Pay in 4 lets you split eligible purchases between $10 and $2,000 into four payments, but PayPal is not currently one of the pay-later options on Wingo's Laters.com checkout: the available providers there are Afterpay, Affirm, AFTEE and Akulaku. PayPal itself notes that Pay in 4 availability depends on your state of residence and that not all merchants and goods are eligible, so even where PayPal is accepted, flights aren't guaranteed to qualify. A soft credit check is used for Pay in 4 applications and is designed not to affect your credit score.

How does a buy now pay later work?

Buy now, pay later splits a purchase into several payments over time, often four interest-free instalments spread over weeks, or longer monthly financing that can carry interest. Interest-free plans typically use a soft eligibility check that doesn't affect your credit score, while monthly financing plans usually involve a full credit check. The CFPB notes that most BNPL lenders don't report your payment history to the major credit bureaus, and approval is assessed per application, not guaranteed.

What is the easiest buy now pay later to get approved?

There's no independently verified ranking of which BNPL provider is "easiest" to get approved for, so Laters.com won't claim one. What's documented is that most pay-in-4 style plans (like Afterpay's and Affirm's) use only a soft eligibility check rather than a hard credit pull, and the CFPB found BNPL approval rates were already high and rising: 73% of applicants were approved in 2021, up from 69% in 2020. Even so, approval depends on your own financial profile and is never guaranteed.

Is buy now pay later a good idea?

It depends on how you use it. The CFPB has flagged real risks: inconsistent consumer protections, late-fee stacking across multiple loans, and marketing that can make BNPL look risk-free when it's still a form of credit. Financial educators generally agree it can work well for a planned purchase you can repay within the interest-free window, but becomes a problem if you're using it to stretch past what you can actually afford, since approval and terms vary by provider and are never guaranteed.

Does Pay Later approve everyone?

No. The CFPB found 73% of BNPL applicants were approved in 2021 (up from 69% in 2020): high, but not universal. Providers like Afterpay and Affirm run an eligibility check (usually a soft check that doesn't affect your credit score) and can decline applicants based on their own underwriting, so approval is assessed individually and never guaranteed.

Is Pay Later good or bad?

Neither outright: it's a tool with real trade-offs. The CFPB's own review found BNPL can carry inconsistent consumer protections, stackable late fees, and marketing that understates that it's still credit; at the same time, interest-free pay-in-4 plans typically run only a soft check that doesn't touch your credit score. Used for a planned purchase you can repay on schedule it can be a reasonable way to spread cost, but relying on it across multiple purchases at once is the pattern the CFPB flags as risky.

Wikipedia: Wingo (airline) · CAPA airline profile: Wingo

Who is Wingo?

Wingo is the trading name of AeroRepĂșblica S.A., a Colombian low-cost airline owned by Copa Holdings. Copa announced it in October 2016, and the first flight, BogotĂĄ to CancĂșn, left on 1 December 2016. BogotĂĄ El Dorado International Airport (BOG) is its main hub, and it flies scheduled services to destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Flying Wingo works the way low-cost flying usually does. At launch, Copa said Wingo would sell one class of seats and charge extra for baggage, food and drink, seat assignments and priority boarding. Under its contract of carriage, a cabin bag is a second piece that the passenger may bring only after paying the charge. Check what your fare includes before you pay.

Paying later changes when you pay, not what you buy. The fare is the same as paying by card, the baggage allowance is the one the fare carries, and any loyalty earning is what the fare class earns. Wingo issues the ticket on its own rules, so you fly as its passenger. You simply spread the cost.

Paying later is credit. A soft credit check may apply, availability varies by market, and some plans carry interest. A missed instalment has consequences with the provider, and a late fee may apply. Borrow only what you can repay on schedule.

Fleet and on-time performance

Wingo leans on one manufacturer and one type. Its fleet is Boeing 737-800s. It is a single-type operator, and no long-haul types are listed. These are the types in service when the facts were confirmed, with the source dated August 2025. Deliveries and retirements change them, and the stats panel shows the count. The aircraft serve scheduled routes in Latin America and the Caribbean, with operating bases at Barranquilla, BogotĂĄ, Cali, Cartagena, Panama City–Balboa and San AndrĂ©s. Punctuality, cancellation rate and fleet age are left out rather than estimated, because none of them has a confirmed figure.

Laters.com is operated by Fly Fairly Pte. Ltd., a travel agent licensed by the Singapore Tourism Board under licence TA04059. Contact Laters.com about a booking, including changes and cancellations; contact your payment provider about your repayment account.
