Does Saudia Serve Alcohol?
No. Saudia does not serve alcohol on any flight, in any cabin, and does not allow passengers to drink their own. Riyadh Air is bound by the same law. Alcohol cannot be brought into Saudi Arabia in your luggage, and the only legal sales inside the country are at a licensed store for non-Muslim diplomats and Premium Residency holders. Tourists cannot buy it.
Can you drink alcohol on Saudia?
No, and the airline's own terms put it in one sentence: Saudia "does not serve or permit passengers to carry or drink alcoholic beverages on its flights" (Saudia terms and conditions, read 18 September 2026). That applies on a Saudia flight from London, Paris or New York as much as on a domestic hop, in economy, business and first, and to the bottle you bought at the departure airport: it stays sealed.
What you get instead is a long non-alcoholic list, Arabic coffee, dates and juices among it. If a drink with dinner matters to you on a nine-hour sector, choose a different carrier for that leg; on Saudia the answer will not change at the galley.
Does Riyadh Air serve alcohol?
No. Riyadh Air, the Kingdom's second national carrier, operates under the same prohibition: "National airlines, including Riyadh Air and Saudia (SV), remain subject to the alcohol ban" (AviationA2Z, 25 December 2025). Its management has said it will work within whatever law applies at the time; today that law is a ban.
Is alcohol allowed in Saudi Arabia?
For the public, no. There is one legal outlet in the country: a store in Riyadh's diplomatic quarter that opened in January 2024 for non-Muslim diplomats and has since been opened to holders of Premium Residency permits, the visa "for foreigners with specialized skills, investors and entrepreneurs". Everyone else is where they were: "Alcohol remains banned for the general public" (Associated Press, 21 December 2025).
You may have read in 2025 that the Kingdom would license alcohol in 600 venues from 2026. That report was never official, and a Saudi official dismissed it the same month: on 26 May 2025 the Kingdom told Reuters it continues to prohibit alcohol (Siasat, citing Reuters). As of September 2026 nothing has replaced that statement.
Can you bring alcohol into Saudi Arabia in your luggage?
No. The U.S. Trade Administration's country guide, updated 11 May 2026, lists it plainly: "Saudi law prohibits importation of the following products: weapons, alcohol, narcotics, pork and pork products, pornographic materials, distillery equipment, retreaded or used tires, used clothing and certain sculptures." A duty-free bottle in your hand luggage is an import the moment you clear customs, and it will be taken. Do not pack it; do not carry it for someone else.
Transit passengers who stay airside at Jeddah or Riyadh are not clearing customs, but the airline rule above still applies on the onward Saudia flight, and airport rules on sealed duty-free vary, so the safe answer is the same: do not carry it on an itinerary that touches the Kingdom.
Can tourists drink alcohol in Saudi Arabia?
No. Tourist visas do not come with access to the diplomatic-quarter store, hotels do not serve alcohol, and there are no licensed bars or restaurants. The country's tourism build-out has changed many things since 2019; this is not one of them, and the penalties for possession are criminal, not administrative.
