Can You Pay Later on JetSmart?

Yes, on Every Route They Fly, on Laters.com

Yes. Book JetSmart on Laters.com, choose a pay-later plan on the checkout screen, and get the e-ticket right away. That holds on every route JetSmart flies and every fare class, because the option sits on our checkout, not on the airline's own booking flow.

Paying later is a payment method at the Laters.com checkout, not something JetSmart has to switch on, which is why it works on every route we ticket. Search the route, choose a provider on the payment screen, pick a plan, and the e-ticket arrives as soon as payment is approved. Which plans someone sees is set by the country they book from, not by the airline they fly, so checkout shows only the plans their fare qualifies for. There is nothing to work out in advance.

An instalment plan leaves the fare alone, and the baggage allowance, and the seat. The traveller flies as JetSmart's own passenger on JetSmart's own fare rules, and only the paying is spread out. Interest-free instalment plans run a soft eligibility check that does not affect a credit score, while interest-bearing monthly financing runs a full credit check, and approval is never guaranteed on either. A reader who would rather skip a plan altogether can still pay in full by card, or with crypto, at the same checkout.

JetSmart is paid in full at booking, so the e-ticket issues straight away. The traveller then repays the provider on the chosen plan. Note that the same short instalment shape trades under different names depending on provider and market.

Illustrative only. The figures above are computed from the fare you set: plain division for the interest-free plans, and each plan's own illustrative rate over its stated term for monthly financing. They are not an offer, a quote, or a prediction of what you will be given. Laters.com is not the lender and takes no part in the decision: which plans appear, the instalment amounts, any interest and fees, and whether you are eligible at all are determined by the provider alone, and depend on a credit or eligibility assessment, your country and your basket. The only way to see your real plans is to choose a provider at checkout, at which point that provider, not Laters.com, approves or declines the purchase. All plans, rates, fees and terms are estimates only and subject to approval and to change.

Laters.com vs booking direct

Why book JetSmart with Laters.com?

Booking direct with the airline is a reasonable choice if you're paying by card in full. What it won't give you is one search across every airline we sell, or the choice of pay-later plans our checkout carries alongside JetSmart's own options. Either way, you get the same JetSmart ticket, the airline's fare rules, baggage allowance, seat selection and loyalty earning stay identical. Splitting the cost doesn't change what you're flying.

What we deliberately left out

  1. Safety. It is not a marketing metric and we will not rank carriers on it.
  2. Cancellation rate and fleet age. Omitted rather than estimated, until a sourced field exists for every airline.
  3. Any sub-metric we cannot attribute. An unsourced measure is dropped, not guessed.
  4. Blended third-party scores that mix in inputs we have already rejected elsewhere on this page.

FAQs: Booking JetSmart and Paying Later

How on-time is JetSmart, and does that affect a Laters pay-later booking?

JetSmart led Chile's domestic carriers on punctuality in the first quarter of 2025, with 82.9% of its flights departing on time, according to Chile's civil aviation board. Booking through Laters with a payment plan doesn't change this performance, since your flight is confirmed with JetSmart directly once the first instalment clears.

Does JetSmart charge for carry-on bags, and should I budget for that alongside my instalments?

JetSmart's overhead carry-on allowance is 10kg, but it's included only from the Smart fare tier up; on the cheapest fares it's a paid add-on. Budget for any extra bag charges separately from your Laters instalments, which only cover the fare itself.

Can I check in online for a JetSmart flight booked through Laters?

Yes. JetSmart offers online check-in from 72 hours before departure through its own website, whether you booked with a Laters payment plan or paid in full.

How much legroom does JetSmart give economy passengers?

JetSmart's average seat pitch is 28 inches with a seat width of 18 inches. That's a fixed feature of the aircraft, not something a payment plan or fare choice through Laters can change.

Is JetSmart's fleet old, and does that matter for a booking I'm paying off over time?

JetSmart's average fleet age is around 3.1 years, among the youngest in South America according to ch-aviation. This is a fact about the airline's operation, not about how Laters structures your instalments, which are tied to your fare amount rather than aircraft age.

What do JetSmart passengers complain about most, and should that worry me if I'm paying later?

Reviewers on Trustpilot and TripAdvisor most often cite baggage fees, unhelpful customer service, and flight delays or cancellations as recurring complaints. None of these relate to Laters' payment plan itself, which only handles how you pay for the fare, not JetSmart's onboard or service experience.

Would JetSmart's low review scores affect whether Laters approves my payment plan?

No. JetSmart's review scores on sites like Trustpilot (1.2 out of 5) reflect passenger experience and have no bearing on Laters' credit check, which looks at your own financial details, not the airline's ratings. JetSmart has also been named Skytrax's Best Low-Cost Airline in South America four times, so review signals for this carrier are mixed depending on the source.

JetSmart has a low Trustpilot rating. Does that mean I'll lose my money if I pay later?

No. A low review score reflects passenger satisfaction, not financial risk. Your Laters payment plan is a separate credit arrangement between you and Laters, and your booked flight is confirmed directly with JetSmart once the first instalment clears.

What do JetSmart passengers actually like, based on reviews?

Flight-Report's review average for JetSmart names low fares and cabin crew as its strengths, and Chile's civil aviation board data shows JetSmart leading domestic punctuality in early 2025. This lines up with the airline's relative on-time performance, a factor that stays true whether you pay for your ticket upfront or through a Laters instalment plan.

Is JetSmart good value for money according to reviewers?

Review sentiment is mixed: Trustpilot rates JetSmart 1.2 out of 5 across 611 reviews and TripAdvisor rates it around 2.0 out of 5, with baggage fees and ancillary charges as recurring complaints, while Flight-Report's smaller sample rates its fares and crew positively. Low base fares mean a payment plan may only mean a couple of small instalments rather than a long plan.

¿Cuántas cuotas sin interés JetSMART?

JetSmart's own instalment promotions through partner banks (such as BancoEstado in Chile or Banco Macro in Argentina) have offered 3 to 12 interest-free instalments on card payments, but the exact count depends on your bank, country and the promotion running at the time, so check JetSmart's own payment-methods page for your market. On Laters.com, the pay-in-4 and financing plans run on a fixed schedule set at checkout, independent of any bank promotion.

¿Cómo pagar con cuotas en JetSMART?

Booking direct, JetSmart lets you pay in instalments with a participating credit card at checkout on its own website, with the number of instalments set by your card issuer's current promotion. On Laters.com, you choose a pay-later plan (Afterpay, Affirm Stripe, Akulaku or AFTEE, depending on your market) at the Laters checkout instead, with no dependency on your card issuer running a promotion.

¿Hay vuelos en 12 cuotas sin interés?

Sometimes, booking direct with JetSmart: 12-interest-free-instalment offers have run through specific bank partnerships, such as BancoEstado in Chile, but they depend on a current promotion and your card, not a standing feature of every booking. On Laters.com, the financing plan runs 0 to 36% APR depending on your market and card, set at checkout rather than by a rotating bank promotion.

About JetSmart and Laters.com

About JetSmart

Chócale.cl – JAC Chile Q1 2025 punctuality report

Who is JetSmart?

JetSmart, founded in 2016, operates as a low-cost carrier, built around the idea of keeping fares simple and flying point to point. The research supplied here doesn't confirm a hub airport, and JetSmart has no loyalty programme of its own, though it participates in American Airlines' AAdvantage partner programme. What can be said is how flying with JetSmart works day to day, and that's unaffected by how you pay.

Booking through Laters.com and spreading the cost in instalments changes nothing about the ticket itself. The fare is identical to paying by card in one go. The baggage allowance is whatever the fare you choose includes, nothing more, nothing less. Any loyalty earning follows the fare class booked, not the payment method. The ticket is issued under JetSmart's own conditions of carriage, so you fly as a normal JetSmart passenger and simply pay for it over time instead of upfront.

That last part matters because paying later is a form of credit. Some plans carry interest and some don't, availability varies by market, and a soft credit check may apply depending on the provider. Miss a payment and there can be a late fee, so treat the schedule with the same care you'd give any other credit commitment.

Fleet and on-time performance

The specific aircraft types and route network for JetSmart haven't been confirmed, so no fleet composition, aircraft models, or punctuality figures are stated here. Fleet counts and types change with deliveries and retirements, and publishing a figure without a verified source would risk it drifting out of step with reality. For the same reason, cancellation rate and fleet age are left out rather than guessed at, since neither has been confirmed. Once these details are confirmed, this space will describe what JetSmart flies and where.
